Based in the rural outskirts of Lisburn, Draynes Farms was established in1932 by Seamus Drayne and his two brothers Aidan and Dermot. The first milk deliveries began on a horse and cart working their way round local streets offering fresh farm milk poured straight from the churn. Business quickly grew but for the first fifty years was solely round households in Lisburn.
Draynes Farms are still a family business now in its second generation headed by Michael Drayne. The business has continued to grow through the years taking in a vast number of commercial premises including restaurants, hotels, cafes, convenience stores and public sector services. The households in Lisburn now only account for a fifth of the business and we have moved on from the horse and cart to eco-friendly electric milk floats!
All our operations are based on our Glenavy Road site including the full herd of prime Holstein Friesians, milking parlour and purpose built processing plant and can now boast over 75 years of experience processing fresh milk, whipping cream and double cream.
We are passionate about our milk and cream and feel quality and customer service is of the up most importance. Through our unique control of the dairy process we can stand over our product and offer a traceability and level of quality that is unmatched in the industry.
We have calves born and bred on our farm now years later fully grown pedigree cows producing the finest milk. Our processing plant all contained under one roof pasteurises and bottles all the milk and cream that we need. We have a fleet of temperature controlled delivery vehicles manned by our experienced and friendly bunch of milkmen. All this adds up to a first class farm to fridge service where the milk that comes out of the cow today is in your fridge tomorrow.
Through our commitment to outstanding quality and service we have attracted the custom and loyalty of some of the finest restaurants, hotels and coffee shops in Northern Ireland building up long term relationships between customer and supplier. We are proud of the fact that we have customers that have been with us for over 20 years in the hospitality and retail sectors and some household customers here in Lisburn that have been with us for over 50 years!!
Our milk and cream is of the highest standards. Our milk is renowned with coffee barista’s as it froths easily into a full velvety texture making the perfect cappucino or latte. The retail customer purchasing our milk also benefits from a standard of milk that makes quite simply the most creamy yummy porridge!
We have expanded our range over the years working closely with select local suppliers to bring together a fine portfolio of quality dairy produce which now includes top grade butter, artisan cheese, local premium yoghurt and a vast range of soft drinks all at a competitive price with a service to match.
